Where would you like to focus?

Commercial Performance

Trading & Profitability Diagnostic

Where are we making and losing money — and why?

Questions we'll explore

  • What's really driving our trading performance?
  • Which products, customers or segments create the most value?
  • Where might we be losing margin?
  • Are our pricing and underwriting decisions supporting profitable growth?
  • What opportunities could improve performance?

Outcome: A clearer view of performance drivers, potential profit leakage and priorities for further investigation.

Channel Effectiveness

Distribution & Partnerships Diagnostic

Are our channels and partnerships delivering the value they should?

Questions we'll explore

  • Which distribution channels create the greatest commercial value?
  • Are our partnerships performing to their potential?
  • Where are we losing customers or conversion?
  • Are we overly dependent on particular partners or channels?
  • Where are the most credible opportunities for growth?

Outcome: A clearer understanding of channel performance, commercial dependencies and opportunities to improve distribution effectiveness.

Strategic Deliverability

Strategy & Growth Credibility Diagnostic

Is our three-year plan genuinely achievable?

Questions we'll explore

  • Are our growth ambitions supported by credible assumptions?
  • Does our strategy reflect the market and competitive environment?
  • Do we have the capabilities and resources to deliver?
  • What are the biggest risks and dependencies?
  • What would need to change to improve our chances of success?

Outcome: An independent view of strategic credibility, critical assumptions and the decisions needed to strengthen delivery.

How It Works

Each diagnostic takes four to six calendar weeks and involves ten to twelve consultancy days, including report writing and the leadership readout. We agree the business question and review perimeter before work begins.

  1. Scope

Agree the business question, perimeter and evidence requirements.

  2. Examine

Review management information, speak with stakeholders and undertake targeted analysis.

  3. Challenge

Test explanations, develop hypotheses and assess the evidence.

  4. Recommend

Present findings, practical recommendations and priorities for the next 90 days.

What You Receive

  • Understand the evidence

A clear executive report with material findings, supporting evidence, confidence and limitations.

  • Know what warrants investigation

Prioritised hypotheses and indicative commercial opportunities, where supported by evidence.

  • Decide what happens next

Practical recommendations, a prioritised 90-day roadmap and a leadership presentation.

Verified findings are distinguished from hypotheses. Indicative opportunities depend on the available evidence and are not guaranteed benefits; evidence gaps and limitations are stated.

What's included and what we'll need from you

Each diagnostic has a clearly agreed scope. We'll need access to relevant management information and a small number of key stakeholders. Specialist work and implementation are separately agreed where required.

Focused engagements with a clearly agreed scope and deliverables.

  • One agreed business perimeter
  • A named client sponsor and data owner
  • Access to existing management information in reasonably usable form
  • Up to six stakeholder interviews
  • One consolidated round of factual corrections

Timely access to suitable information is important. Delayed or materially incomplete evidence may limit analytical coverage or require a mutually agreed scope change. This is focused advisory analysis, not a comprehensive audit or assurance engagement.

Specialist legal, actuarial, accounting, tax and implementation work is outside the standard diagnostic unless separately agreed. Travel and third-party data are also excluded unless agreed in writing.

Product-specific boundaries

  • Trading & Profitability Diagnostic: Excludes a financial audit, actuarial reserve opinion or complete repricing exercise.
  • Distribution & Partnerships Diagnostic: Excludes legal opinions, regulatory assurance and any guarantee of new underwriting capacity.
  • Strategy & Growth Credibility Diagnostic: Excludes preparation of a replacement strategy, formal valuation, comprehensive due diligence or implementation.

Beyond the diagnostic

A diagnostic gives you a clear assessment and practical recommendations. Where further investigation or implementation is needed, Goose can provide deeper analysis, specialist expertise and hands-on delivery.

Further engagements are optional and separately agreed.
