Cookies and similar technologies

This page explains how Goose Advisory uses cookies and similar technologies on this website.

Cookies and your choice

We use necessary browser storage to remember your privacy choice. Google Analytics 4 and its optional cookies are used only after you accept analytics. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.

Essential website technology and privacy preferences

Like most websites, the service may use or access limited browser and network functionality that is technically necessary to deliver, secure and operate the website.

We use first-party local storage called goose.analytics-consent.v2 to remember and enforce your choice, including rejection. This contains only a version number, an accepted or rejected choice and an expiry time. It is not an analytics cookie or a visitor identifier and is not used for advertising or centralised consent statistics.

A saved choice lasts up to 180 days from your latest explicit decision. We ask again when it expires or is missing or invalid, and may ask again after a material change to the consent information or version. Clearing browser storage or using a different browser or device may mean choosing again. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice applies only within the current page document, subject to the same expiry; a reload or a new page document does not retain it.

Optional Google Analytics cookies

Google Analytics 4, provided under the applicable UK Analytics terms by Google Ireland Limited, loads only after valid acceptance. It helps us understand page and article use, visits and sessions, clicks on download links, selected external links and enquiries accepted for sending. Clicks do not prove completed downloads, and acceptance for sending does not prove email delivery.

  • _ga — a first-party cookie used to distinguish browsers.
  • _ga_MLY8WTDK7T — a first-party cookie used to maintain session state for this Google Analytics stream.
  • Both are configured for a maximum lifetime of 400 days from creation, without renewing that expiry on activity. Browser restrictions, withdrawal or clearing cookies can shorten this period.

These cookies are optional. We do not load Google Analytics, create its cookies or send analytics requests before valid acceptance or following rejection. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, browser fingerprinting or cross-site tracking pixels for this feature. Accept all refers only to the optional analytics category, not advertising.

Enhanced Measurement, Google Signals, user-provided data collection, advertising personalisation and granular location/device collection are disabled for the property, and there are no Google Ads links. Google can still receive cookie identifiers, basic technical information, coarse geography and network information when you consent. See our Privacy Notice for the information collected and Google’s processing role.

Your choice and withdrawal

The dialog offers equally prominent Accept all and No thanks buttons. No thanks declines optional analytics immediately. Manage preferences lets you review the optional analytics setting and save it. No optional analytics is preselected for a new visitor. Closing the dialog or continuing to browse does not grant consent or change an existing valid choice.

Use Cookie settings in the footer at any time to reopen the dialog. Choose No thanks to reject or withdraw analytics, or use Manage preferences and save your choice. Rejecting analytics does not prevent access to the website or contact form.

Withdrawal prevents newly initiated analytics collection in the current page document and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies. Information already collected is not automatically erased, and requests already in transit cannot be recalled. Other open tabs apply changes when their browser processes them, which can be delayed if a tab is paused. Choices in different browsers and devices are separate.

If you accept again after withdrawal, analytics needs a fresh page document. Where the preference can be saved, the page refreshes after acceptance except on pages containing a form, where analytics remains off until a refresh to preserve your draft or pending submission. If storage is unavailable, automatic reactivation is not possible and you may need to choose again after refreshing.

Different retention periods

The 180-day consent preference and up-to-400-day analytics cookies are browser-storage periods. They are separate from the Google Analytics property’s two-month user-level and event-level retention setting, which does not reset on new activity. Standard aggregated Analytics reports may remain available for longer. Withdrawal does not itself delete historical analytics information; our Privacy Notice explains applicable rights and how to contact us.

Google and other third parties

Google and its subprocessors may process analytics information outside the UK. The Privacy Notice explains the provider, consent basis and the applicable transfer arrangements. No UK-only processing or anonymous analytics is promised.

Links from our website may take you to third-party websites, such as LinkedIn or external data sources. Those websites may use their own cookies and tracking technologies. Their use of those technologies is governed by their own policies.

Consent reporting

Consent choices are stored locally to apply your preference. We do not currently record centralised Accept/Reject statistics or use Google Analytics to record rejection decisions. Future aggregate consent reporting is separate and is not part of this feature.

Questions and changes

We periodically review the technologies used by the website. Questions can be sent to enquiries@gooseadvisory.com. Our Privacy Notice explains your data-protection rights and how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
